>> EVENTS & QUESTS:

MOD-RUN EVENTS

EVENT QUESTS

Main story events are large-scale stories that affect society as a whole.

Event quests are mod-run, scheduled sessions within the event that push the story forward.

Each new event will start a new version, beginning from 1.0.

CONTINUANCE QUESTS

Continuance events are large-scale but not society-affecting environments, typically seasonal and SOL, that provide a break after main story events.

Continuance quests are mod-or-member-run, scheduled sessions within the event intended to build comradery.

Continuance events will iterate each version by .1.

MEMBER-RUN QUESTS

QUESTS

Quests are member-run, scheduled sessions with a limited cast chosen by the member DM.

Mods may request or enforce limitations on player casts in order to ensure equal opportunity for participation between players.

If players are chosen for a quest, they are responsible for making best-efforts to be present, available, and focused, and for alerting DMs in as timely a manner as possible if extraneous circumstances arise.

Players who consistently fail to do so may be de-prioritized for future quests.

DMs are asked to notify their casts at least 24 hours in advance.

DMs are responsible for:

    • writing their quest,
    • filling out and submitting the quest listing form for mod approval,
    • posting their quest listing,
    • choosing, getting approval for and notifying their own cast, and creating a role through the bot,
    • creating and managing their own channels, including a masterpost, in the #quests channel,
    • writing a final report for the quest to the #archive thread,
    • and submitting wordcount and EXP afterwards through the bot for all players.

Mods are responsible for approving the outline and cast.

We're always available to help walk you through the process, too! Just ask!

For a precise, step-by-step guide, see:
> how to run a quest.

Quests are assigned a thread index between 0 and 3. If an Echo is present, this is lightly correlated with the Echo's thread index. THREAT INDEX:
- LEVEL 0: Society-endangering.
- LEVEL 1: Certainly dangerous.
- LEVEL 2: Potentially dangerous.
- LEVEL 3: Little chance of danger.

CHARACTER QUESTS

Character quests are a subset of normal quests that focus on a specific player character or NPC.

These quests are mostly exempt from mod intervention about player cast, regardless of quest playtime distribution.

Each character is only allowed 1 character quest line. Their character quest line may be rerun or iterated, but they must retain some similarity.

Character quests may not be run back-to-back with other character quests. At least 1 normal quest in between is required.

If issues arise, these guidelines may be modified.

SIDE QUESTS

Side quests are mod-or-member initiated quick time events that are free for anyone available to join.

They may be scheduled or unscheduled. They range in complexity from simple prompts (a box of costumes has been left in the plaza!) to complex scenarios involving active DMing.

Anyone interested in running a side quest may use the @side quests ping or their faction's ping to alert players of an active scenario.

If you would like to give players a heads-up for when your side quest will be happening, feel free to make a post in #request-board.

ADVENTURES

Adventures are small, member-dmed threaded scenarios that can happen over the course of several days. They may be asynchronous.

Adventures should take no more than 3 players for ease of scheduling, and should not last more than a week or two.

If you are selected, please make every effort to respond promptly (at least one reply per day). If a player stops responding to that degree, DMs should feel free to continue the scenario or recruit another player.

Recruit for an adventure by making a post in #request-board.
